Ms. Mairo V. Bello (Hajiya) is a Sociologist, Public Health Practitioner, a Researcher, a Mentor, an Advocate and a human rights activist. Mairo Bello was a banker trainer and worked in the banking institution for 25 years.
She is a Fellow African Leadership Forum Otta; Fellow International family Planning Leadership Program (Institute of Public Health.CA.); Fellow Sexuality, Culture, and Society(University of Amsterdam); Fellow Salzburg seminar (Salzberg Global Seminar) Fellow Gates Institute for Population and Development -JHU-Bloomberg School of Public Health; Fellow of Sexuality and Human Rights in Muslim Societies; Have worked in civil society for over thirty years.
Mairo Bello is the founder of Adolescent Health and Information Projects(AHIP) a pioneer young people and Women organization covering 12 states in Northern Nigeria. Have mentored over one hundred CSOs. She is an international advocate for young people and women, especially the girl child. Mairo is a member of various National health related committees; have researched in various young people and women issue; Mairo have been a team leader for various big projects including an EC project covering 12 states; have been a consultant for national and international organizations; published on various issues including The Experience of Married Adolescent Girls in Northern Nigeria; VVF Crime against women. She is a Member American Public Health Association, Member Global Health Council.
